Nova4K Installation Guide: IBO Player From Start To Finish
IBO Player is the only application Nova4K supports, and it is deliberately the one we chose: it installs on almost every platform, it handles non-Android smart TVs that most players ignore, and its playback stays smooth on modest hardware. This guide walks through installation on each device type, then the playlist activation that switches your line on.

Troubleshooting and common questions
1. What IBO Player is, and what it is not
IBO Player is built by the development group IBODev and is distributed for Android, Windows 10+, macOS, Debian and Ubuntu Linux, plus the content stores of Samsung and LG televisions. Its interface is clean, its playback engine is stable, and it covers the essentials without burying them in menus.
It is worth knowing the trade-offs before you start:
Installs almost anywhere. Direct download links exist for every supported platform, so you are rarely stuck without an option.
Excellent for non-Android smart TVs. Closed television operating systems block most IPTV players; IBO Player is one of the few that ships properly on Samsung and LG.
No recording. There is no DVR function of any kind. Our 7-day catch-up covers most of what recording would give you.
No multi-screen. You cannot watch two channels side by side. This aligns with the Nova4K one-device rule anyway.
Remote playlist activation. Credentials are entered on the IBO portal, not in the app, and are pushed to your device from their cloud. It is an extra step, but it means you never type a long URL with a TV remote.
The app carries a small licence fee. After a short 5-day evaluation window, IBODev charges roughly €5 for a year or €10 for a lifetime licence. That fee goes to IBODev, not to Nova4K, and is separate from your subscription.
2. Installing IBO Player on Android phones, tablets and Android TV
Android installation steps
Open the browser on your Android device and download the IBO Player installation file from the official IBODev download page.
Android will warn you that the file came from outside the Play Store. This is expected for side-loaded apps — choose Download anyway.
Open the downloaded file once it finishes.
Tap Install and wait for the process to complete.
Open the app. The first launch shows an introductory screen explaining the activation flow — read it, then tap OK.
The player loads and is ready. Jump to section 8 to add your Nova4K playlist.
3. Installing IBO Player on Windows
Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit)
Download the Windows installer from the IBODev site. Note that only 64-bit Windows 10 and above is supported.
Windows SmartScreen will interrupt because the file did not come from the Microsoft Store. Click More info.
Click Run anyway to continue.
Click Next through the installer welcome screen.
Tick the desktop shortcut box if you want one, then click Next.
Click Install to write the files.
Click Finish to launch IBO Player.
4. Installing IBO Player on Amazon Fire TV Stick
The Fire TV Stick needs a side-loading helper because IBO Player is not in the Amazon Appstore. The Downloader application handles this in a few minutes.
Fire TV Stick, step by step
From the Fire TV home screen, move to the magnifier icon, press down to the search field and press OK.
Type D on the on-screen keyboard. Downloader appears as the first suggestion — select it.
Choose the Downloader app and start the installation.
Confirm with Download.
When prompted to grant media access, choose Allow.
Once Downloader opens, move to the URL field above the yellow Go button and press OK.
Enter the official Downloader code for the IBO Player Android build, 511693, then select Go.
The download begins from the official source. Leave it alone until it finishes.
Amazon will block the install because the file is from outside the Appstore. Open Settings.
Choose Install unknown apps.
Select Downloader and press OK so the toggle changes from OFF to ON.
Return to the installer and confirm through the remaining Next and OK prompts.
When the welcome message appears, press OK. The app is ready.
If you cannot find "Install unknown apps": go to Settings › My Fire TV › About and press OK seven times on the remote. Developer Options will then appear in the menu.
Searching for Downloader on the Fire TV Stick. The Apps shortcut is where IBO Player will appear once installed.Downloader must be switched ON under Install unknown apps.
5. Installing IBO Player on macOS
MacBook and iMac
Download the macOS build from the IBO Player download section.
Open the downloaded file and drag the icon into your Applications folder.
After about ten seconds the app is installed. Open Launchpad and click the icon.
macOS will refuse the first launch because the app came from outside the App Store.
Click the Apple menu, choose System Settings, scroll to Privacy & Security, and find the blocked application notice.
Choose Open anyway, then confirm. The choice is permanent — later launches open straight away.
6. Installing IBO Player on Samsung and LG smart TVs
This is where IBO Player earns its place. Non-Android televisions are usually a dead end for IPTV, but both Samsung and LG carry the app natively.
LG WebOS (Samsung Tizen is near-identical)
Open the LG Content Store from the TV home bar.
Click the magnifier icon in the top-right corner to search.
Type IBO Player.
Pick the correct result. Several similarly named apps exist — choose the one named exactly "IBO Player".
Click Install.
Choose Launch when installation finishes.
A welcome message appears on first run. Note the Device ID and Device Key shown — you need them in the next section.

7. Installing on MAG and other set-top boxes
MAG portal configuration
From the MAG home screen, open Settings.
Enter System settings, then Servers.
Choose Portals and give portal 1 a name, for example Nova4K.
Enter the portal URL supplied in your Nova4K activation email.
Save, then restart the box from the main menu.
The Nova4K line loads automatically on the next boot.
Before you order a MAG box: send us its MAC address from Settings › System settings › Device info and we will confirm compatibility. Ask on the contact page.
The MAG home screen — open Settings to begin.System settings › Servers is where the portal address is entered.
8. Adding your Nova4K playlist to IBO Player
IBO Player uses remote playlist activation. Instead of typing credentials on the television, you enter them once on the IBO Player website and their system pushes the playlist to your app.
Log in to the playlist portal
On the IBO Player website, click Manage Playlist in the top menu.
The portal asks for your MAC Address (Device ID) and Device Key.
To find them, open IBO Player on your device and select the profile icon on the dashboard. Device Info in the top-left shows both values.
Type them into the portal form and click Login.
The portal login form: Device MAC Address and Device Key.
Method A — Add Playlist (M3U streaming line)
Use this if Nova4K sent you a single long streaming link.
Click Add Playlist in the portal.
Playlist name: anything you like — "Nova4K" works.
Playlist URL: paste the link from your activation email exactly as supplied.
XMLTV EPG URL: leave empty. IBO Player then pulls the programme guide from the playlist itself.
Protect this playlist: tick it and set a PIN if children use the television.
Click Save.
Method B — Add XC Playlist (host, username, password)
Use this if your activation email lists a server address plus separate credentials.
Click ADD XC Playlist on the portal dashboard.
Enter the Playlist name, User name and Password from your email.
Enter the Host — this is the server address, and it is the only field that differs from Method A.
Leave the XMLTV EPG URL empty unless you have your own guide source.
Click Save.
The XC Playlist form — host, username and password from your Nova4K email.
Restart IBO Player, or press Data Refresh on the dashboard, and your Nova4K channels appear within seconds.
9. Fixing the messy Live TV layout
By default the Live TV screen uses a layout where channel names overflow under the preview window and the EPG sits awkwardly. One setting fixes it.
Switch the Live TV style
On the IBO Player dashboard, click the screen icon next to the Wi-Fi symbol.
You are now in Live Screen Style. The default is "Malai TV Style" — change it to Thai and click Save.
Channel names now have room, the preview window sits correctly and the programme guide lines up.
Categories are hidden in this layout. Press the left arrow on the remote (or the back gesture on a touch device) to bring them back.
10. Favourites, search and the on-demand section
Adding a channel to favourites
From the channel list, press and hold OK on the channel you want.
Choose ADD.
A confirmation appears at the bottom and a heart icon shows next to the channel name.
The Favourites group sits at the top of the category column.
Searching and browsing VOD
The search control sits in the bottom-left of the Live TV overview and searches across every category.
Search matches specific terms, so a partial or mistyped name may return nothing — type carefully.
In Movies and Series, the palette icon switches between Modern and Normal themes.
The downward arrow sorts by date added, rating or alphabetically; the magnifier searches the library.
Press and hold OK on any title to add it to your favourites folder.
11. The settings menu, explained
Network: a shortcut into your device's Wi-Fi list.
Parental control: sets a PIN on the app. The initial password is 0000 even if you never set one. Forgotten it? Reset the PIN from the IBO Player portal.
Check for updates: lets the app update itself remotely.
Language: sixteen interface languages, including English and French.
Application info: version number, build code and licence expiry date.
Clear cache: the first thing to try when the EPG misbehaves or artwork fails to load.
Manage categories: hide groups you never watch to trim the channel list down to what you actually use.
Live TV player / VOD player: switch the playback engine between Android Player, EXO Player and VLC. If a channel stutters, try a different engine before contacting support.
Main screen background: twelve built-in backgrounds.
Content strategy: load the whole catalogue at launch, or load each section on demand. On slower hardware, choose on demand.
Auto boot on start: opens IBO Player automatically when the device powers on.
Under More options there are seven advanced switches: stream URL redirection check, Live TV EPG on/off, use extension in stream URL, use M3U format in stream URL, use runtime for movies, use runtime for series, and UTF-8 decoding. Leave them at their defaults unless our support team asks you to change one.
12. Troubleshooting
Channels will not load
Clear the cache, then press Data Refresh on the dashboard. If the list is still empty, confirm the playlist saved correctly in the IBO portal.
Picture stutters on live sport
Switch the Live TV player engine to EXO or VLC. Wired Ethernet beats Wi-Fi on 4K feeds every time.
EPG is missing or wrong
Clear the cache and leave the XMLTV EPG URL field empty so IBO Player reads the guide from the playlist itself.
